Must one always be happy?

Before Driftwise Meadow was covered in snow, it was a land of clear lakes and vast fields of blue flowers. The Skippies played freely in the water, while the Nimbis drifted quietly through the blooms, steeped in sadness, and releasing melancholic mists that drifted and lingered in the air. Even when ancient Idyllians came here, they would grow sad and weep uncontrollably upon touching those mists. Over time, this gave rise to the legend of the Weeping Lake. But as the fiery power of the Russet Highlands weakened, this land gradually grew cold. The lake froze, snow accumulated, and the Aniimo living here began to change in wondrous ways. Yet the Nimbis remained much as they had been long ago, as though untouched by time—until the arrival of the Fentufts made them so sorrowful that they started shedding melancholic fluff.

Originally, it was a rare flower that grew among a sea of azure blossoms, its petals drooping as if bowed in quiet weeping. After the Fentufts appeared in Driftwise Meadow and started to spread joy wherever they went, those petals slowly took on a soft golden hue. For a long time after, blue-and-gold flowers bloomed across the land. But as more Fentufts appeared, the Nimbis chose to leave for places far from their joyful presence, where they could enjoy their sorrow. And so, without that aura of melancholy, the bittersweet blooms began to droop once more. Thus, they have not produced their precious dew for quite some time.

In Driftwise Meadow, there are strange clouds that make everyone feel sad. Within these clouds, there seems to be... an upset Nimbi?

Ever since those noisy ones showed up... it’s getting harder and harder to be quietly sad... and that, in itself, is rather sad...

I only wish to wallow in sorrow, but those Fentufts always come and disturb me...

When the world itself... is already so full of sorrow...

Consider the snow... It was here yesterday... and today, it’s gone...

In a world like this... sadness simply... spills out from inside... How could one possibly be happy...?

I don’t quite understand... Is being unhappy not allowed...? Must one always be happy...?

But if even sadness must be hidden... isn’t that... something rather sad in itself?

A naturally cheerful perfumer, Fantine, is troubled. No matter what happens to her, she remains happy, but everyone in Bloomville thinks something is wrong with her. She retreats to a mountain lake to clear her head, hoping to cuddle a Nimbi for warmth, but ends up catching its melancholy instead and feeling a little sad herself.

I thought I’d hug a Nimbi to keep warm... but somehow... I started to feel a little sad.

My Nimbi wants to get a job too. I’m planning to take it to a modeling interview, but I haven’t picked an outfit yet.
