Aniimo 10/29 Damage Calculation Change – ATK Adjustment Formulas for BREAK and Support Positions, and the Effect on Potentials (ATK vs BREAK)

10/29 S1 "Departure with the Wind: Part 2" · DPS unchanged · BREAK position = ATK + part of BREAK · Support · REGEN · Heal = 7 × level (max 60) + 0.3 × ATK · tables of ATK, BREAK and level numbers
Capability Awakening screen — the ATK and BREAK Potentials

Since the 10/29 update, raising ATK increases damage right away even for Aniimo that are not DPS. For the BREAK position, part of BREAK is added to ATK, and for the Support · REGEN · Heal positions, when ATK is low, 7 × level (max 60) + 0.3 × ATK goes into the damage. DPS did not change.

A summary of the position-by-position damage calculation changed by the 10/29 S1 "Departure with the Wind: Part 2" update. It covers the old and new BREAK position formulas, the Support · REGEN · Heal position formula, number tables showing how much ATK goes into the damage depending on ATK, BREAK and level, and how much damage rises when you raise ATK or BREAK with Potentials.
  • DPS: ATK as before (nothing changed)
  • BREAK position: old "the larger of ATK and BREAK × 0.825" → now ATK + 0.42 × (BREAK − 0.5 × ATK). The BREAK that gets added counts only up to 2.2 times ATK.
  • Support · REGEN · Heal: when ATK is low, 7 × level + 0.3 × ATK. The level counts only up to 60. At Lv.60 or higher, this value equals ATK at ATK 600.
  • Potentials: raising the same % on a BREAK position, ATK raises damage more. BREAK also goes into damage a little, and it raises how much of the boss's shield (Break gauge) you knock off.

1What changed

  • The official notice says it fixed the issue of "ATK increases having little visible effect for Aniimo other than DPS types", so now a rise in ATK takes effect right away for any Aniimo.
  • The old BREAK position calculated damage from the larger of ATK and "BREAK × 0.825". Once BREAK went above about 1.21 times ATK, raising ATK no longer increased damage.
  • Now the ATK that goes into damage is calculated separately for each position. The calculation after that (target DEF, skill Might, Crit, elemental matchups, etc.) is the same for every position.
  • Position trait descriptions are also new on the Aniimo info screen. The "BREAK Trait" reads "When ATK is low, ATK and BREAK both affect damage within a certain range.", and the "Support Trait" · "REGEN Trait" · "Heal Trait" read "When ATK is low, ATK and level both affect damage within a certain range." DPS has no such description.

2BREAK position formula

  • ATK that goes into damage = ATK + 0.42 × (BREAK − 0.5 × ATK)
  • If BREAK is half of ATK or less, nothing is added. It stays at ATK.
  • BREAK counts only up to 2.2 times ATK. BREAK above that no longer goes into the damage. So the added value is at most 0.714 times ATK.
  • Example: ATK 350 · BREAK 480 was 396 (= 480 × 0.825) before → now 478 (= 350 + 0.42 × (480 − 175))

3Support · REGEN · Heal position formula

  • Level adjustment value = 7 × level + 0.3 × ATK (the level counts only up to 60)
  • As the trait description says, this value goes into the damage together with ATK when ATK is low. As long as the level adjustment value is larger than ATK, it grows by 0.3 for every 1 ATK.
  • At Lv.60 or higher, the level adjustment value (420 + 180 = 600) equals ATK at ATK 600. At Lv.40, they are equal at ATK 400.
  • Even at Lv.61~70, the level part is calculated as 60 (7 × 60 = 420). However, from Lv.61 the ATK stat itself rises a little more.

4Potentials: ATK and BREAK

  • One point of a Potential raises that stat by the same rate whether it is ATK or BREAK (+0.8% per point as the base, and +4% each time the total reaches a multiple of 4).
  • On a BREAK position, when BREAK is between 0.5 and 2.2 times ATK, 1 ATK → +0.79 to the ATK that goes into damage, and 1 BREAK → +0.42.
  • Raising the same %, ATK raises damage more as long as BREAK is lower than 1.88 times ATK. At Lv.70 · 0 Potential points · no Star Up, the BREAK of a BREAK position Aniimo is about 0.96 times its ATK (Popota) to 1.62 times (Lilipole).
  • Separately from damage, BREAK raises how much of the boss's shield (Break gauge) you knock off. This amount rises with the BREAK value regardless of position.
  • Support · REGEN · Heal: while ATK is lower than the level adjustment value, 1 ATK → 0.3, and once it passes that, 1 ATK → 1.

FAQ

Q. Does raising ATK now increase damage for Support Aniimo too?
Yes. While ATK is lower than the level adjustment value (7 × level + 0.3 × ATK, level up to 60), damage rises by 0.3 per 1 ATK, and once it passes that, it rises by the full ATK. At Lv.60 or higher, ATK 600 is that boundary.
Q. Does raising BREAK also increase damage on the BREAK position?
When BREAK is between 0.5 and 2.2 times ATK, the ATK that goes into damage rises by 0.42 per 1 BREAK. BREAK above 2.2 times ATK no longer goes into damage and only raises how much of the boss's shield you knock off.
