A Meadow Tale Where Joy and Sorrow Live Together · Fentuft Family
The Happy Fentuft Team chases gloom away
Fentuft · Fenmane
Introduction by MOANIIMO · not game text
Fentuft calls everyone over with a bright smile to play together. It says play is something you do because it is fun, and a Joyous Tuftball is a way of sharing your own happiness. But the Bittersweet Bloom won’t fully bloom even after every Joyous Tuftball is used up.
Game text
If a Fentuft gives you a Joyous Tuftball, it means they want you to be happy! And they want to share their happiness with you!

CHAPTER 01
The Happy Fentuft Team
MOANIIMO noteIn the journey “Fentufts and the Nimbi,” Fentufts are gathered around a Nimbi, celebrating something.
Game text
Those Fentufts are picking on a Nimbi?
Operation: Banish Blues—success!
Happiness matters most! Nothing else matters, woof!
The Fentufts have formed the "Happy Fentuft Team" to chase unhappiness away. Fentuft Inspectors disperse clouds of sadness, while Fentuft Experience Officers bring joy to everyone. They invite you to join, but insist that every team member has to be super happy.
I’m Fentuft Inspector, my job is to hunt down unhappiness! No gloom escapes me! Heh-heh!
Yes! Melancholic Mist makes everyone sad! Very not happy!
Woof... I really want to know why Nimbi feels sad every day... always making melancholic fluff...
Hmph! I’m the Fentuft Inspector! How could you think I’d bully Nimbi?
But chasing away sadness isn’t enough! We also have a Fentuft Joy Officer bringing happiness to everyone!
Wanna join the Happy Fentuft Team? You gotta be super happy!
CHAPTER 02
Play Without a Reward
MOANIIMO noteAfter finishing the trial game with the Fentufts, you ask for a Joyous Tuftball as a reward.
Game text
Why want joyous tuftball? You already happy, right?
Playing games is about having fun! Why would any Fentuft play games just for the rewards?
If happiness only comes with reward, then happiness becomes so hard!
If a Fentuft gives you a Joyous Tuftball, it means they want you to be happy! And they want to share their happiness with you!
I’m getting a little tired. Time to head back "home" and get some good rest.
Fluff dropped by a Fentuft after playing games. It can spread happiness.
When the Fentufts get tired of playing, they run back to their “old home” to flop down and rest.
CHAPTER 03
The Bittersweet Bloom and the Big One
MOANIIMO noteIn the journey “Fentufts and the Nimbi,” the Fentuft Inspector tells you to try bringing happiness to the Bittersweet Bloom, too.
Game text
Near the bittersweet bloom, you run into a super happy Fentuft. It tells you excitedly that you smell like pure happiness, then points out a "big one" nearby who isn’t feeling nearly as cheerful, suggesting you try cheering it up with a joyous tuftball.
If only Big One could be like you.
See? Big One went from unhappy to... less unhappy. But it’s still not happy. Makes Tufty’s head hurt.
Is that it? Nothing can make Big One happy?
No! Happy Fentuft Team and Fentuft Inspector will not allow that!
I only wish to wallow in sorrow, but those Fentufts always come and disturb me...
But if even sadness must be hidden... isn’t that... something rather sad in itself?
If the world already has sheep, why does it need Fentufts too?
I dreamed I was surrounded by Fentufts. I wanted to cry... Thank goodness it was only a dream.
But it’s so strange... Big One isn’t so gloomy now... but it’s not very happy, either.

Game text
You try to explain to the Fentuft that there is nothing wrong with being sad and that no one has to be happy all the time. It completely misunderstands, deciding that the bittersweet bloom recovered because the Nimbi became happy. Vowing to work even harder to cheer up the Nimbi, it runs off cheering.
You made Nimbi happy! That’s why Big One got better!
Nimbi! Tufty coming!
It’s hard to tell whether the Fentufts will make the Nimbi happier... or even sadder...
CHAPTER 04
Sticking Close to the Nimbi
Game text
Nimbi smells sad. Can you help Tufty cheer it up?
Hmm... Snuggling together is the happiest thing! Let’s cuddle Nimbi!
Ah... that seems to have made things worse...
Must be something wrong with how Tufty cuddled... Tufty will try harder this time!
Wooo! Nimbi looks happier now! Try harder!
I can smell it! The scent of sorrow is almost gone, and look—they’re peeking at us!
Great, Nimbi is no longer upset! We did it!
It looks like they’ve just gone back to their normal selves...
Nimbi looks great just the way Nimbi is! That’s just how Nimbis are, and that’s perfectly okay!
CHAPTER 05
The Researcher Pushed by a Fentuft
Game text
Then I went to Driftwise Meadow and carefully made my way to God Tear Lake to draw some water, only to be knocked into the lake by a Fentuft.
It thought I liked water but was too embarrassed to go for a dip, so it decided to help me.
The Fentufts were so happy, but the Nimbi was so upset it cried.
Because I cracked the floating ice on the lake into pieces, and that was its "ice friend."
CHAPTER 06
Until the Blue Meadow Turned Golden
MOANIIMO noteThe items you obtain in Driftwise Meadow record this place’s old stories.
Game text
Long, long ago, Driftwise Meadow was a world of pure blue, tranquil and wistful, until one day, new life was born here—the Fentuft family. They were lively and joyful, loved being around others, and invented all sorts of games. Over time, this blue world was bathed in dazzling gold, bright enough to melt even the ice and snow. They were a new form of life untouched by the age of colorlessness, a small but vital change in an endless cycle. For after the colors fade, restoration is never as simple as returning to what once was.
Before Driftwise Meadow was covered in snow, it was a land of clear lakes and vast fields of blue flowers. The Skippies played freely in the water, while the Nimbis drifted quietly through the blooms, steeped in sadness, and releasing melancholic mists that drifted and lingered in the air. Even when ancient Idyllians came here, they would grow sad and weep uncontrollably upon touching those mists. Over time, this gave rise to the legend of the Weeping Lake. But as the fiery power of the Russet Highlands weakened, this land gradually grew cold. The lake froze, snow accumulated, and the Aniimo living here began to change in wondrous ways. Yet the Nimbis remained much as they had been long ago, as though untouched by time—until the arrival of the Fentufts made them so sorrowful that they started shedding melancholic fluff.
Originally, it was a rare flower that grew among a sea of azure blossoms, its petals drooping as if bowed in quiet weeping. After the Fentufts appeared in Driftwise Meadow and started to spread joy wherever they went, those petals slowly took on a soft golden hue. For a long time after, blue-and-gold flowers bloomed across the land. But as more Fentufts appeared, the Nimbis chose to leave for places far from their joyful presence, where they could enjoy their sorrow. And so, without that aura of melancholy, the bittersweet blooms began to droop once more. Thus, they have not produced their precious dew for quite some time.
CHAPTER 07
Fantine, the Always-Happy Perfumer
MOANIIMO noteIn the journey “A Fragrant Journey: Driftwise Meadow,” Perfumer Fantine receives the Bittersweet Dew.
Game text
Fantine, a cheerful perfumer from Bloomville, has often been misunderstood for her optimism. Now she has come to Driftwise Meadow, only to find that she cannot understand why her Nimbi companion is so sad. Is it wrong to be happy? The special perfume ingredient found in Driftwise Meadow may help her find an answer. Find a way to make the Bittersweet Blooms blossom. Go to Driftwise Meadow and complete the prerequisite quest: Fentufts and the Nimbi.
Am I really supposed to be happy...? It makes me feel so out of place... Even the little Nimbis seem to keep their distance from me.
They all exist side by side... like the tones of this dew—blended, yet unchanged. They don’t become each other... I think... I understand now.

Game text
You give Fantine the bittersweet dew and tell her about the Fentuft and the Nimbi. Something clicks. Happiness and sorrow, she realizes, don’t have to cancel each other out—they can simply coexist. She realizes she only felt out of place because she had been looking for companionship in the wrong crowd: the Fentufts are her true kindred spirits. After thanking you, she rushes off to the Fentuft gathering grounds.
If the Fentufts are happy, and I’m happy, then why don’t I go live with them?
If I can never fit in here in Bloomville... then maybe I should be trying to fit in with the Fentufts instead!
Above the Driftwise Meadow, a flock of joyful Fentufts tirelessly pass their happiness on to sorrowful Nimbis. Even so, they too grow weary. Whenever this happens, the Fentufts return to their “old home,” Softdown Wilds, to recharge. Just what kind of place is it? And might Perfumer Fantine finally find a kindred spirit there?
Maybe I’m not really a perfumer of Bloomville at all... maybe I’m just a happy Fentuft!
And this place... might be my home—
